These tribal communities, spread across the country, have a deep understanding of forest ecosystems and have been sustainably harvesting a variety of forest products for their livelihoods. These products, often referred to as Minor Forest Produce (MFP), include a wide range of goods derived from forests that are not timber. MFP encompasses a variety of items including bamboo, canes, fodder, leaves, gums, waxes, dyes, resins, and many forms of food including nuts, wild fruits, honey, lac, and tussar.
